About Us

Training and Development Center

The Training and Development Center is one of the important units at the University Zakho. It leads an academic and scientific role by contributing to the academic development of the teaching staff (especially newly graduated teachers), and training them with various important skills in pedagogy and scientific research, and leadership and management. The center provides theoretical and practical lectures in Modern Pedagogy domains and English Language Proficiency courses for higher education candidates. Moreover, the center commences a variety of cultural and educational workshops and courses which meet university's objectives and serve as a liaison between local community and university.
The TDC is housed in a purpose-built facility which includes modern classrooms and a well-equipped computer suite, as well as advanced audio-visual equipment and learning resources. Most importantly, The TDC's teaching staffs are experienced with MA or PhD from the finest international and local universities.

COURSES

This training course is one of the major responsibilities of TDC. This course is provided for the new graduates of MA or PhD who are expected to take teaching positions at the University of Zakho. The Center continues to provide these training courses at least two times a year for the sake of enhancing the human potentials of the teaching staff at the university.

This course aims to: Develop in participants a critical awareness and understanding of important recent research skills, developments in language teaching approaches and methods, and academic leadership and management skills.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Critically analyze relevant practice, including their own, in the light of current theory and practice in learning methodologies.
  2. Formulate possible solutions to problems in their practice of learning methodologies and departmental management.
  3. Develop strategies for implementing change in their professional practice.
  4. Use IT to achieve personal and professional purposes.
  5. Understanding classroom management, assessment and construction of test questions.

    This intensive course is designed to help participants reach an appropriate level of proficiency in English. These internationally recognized tests are designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication. These tests are made up of four modules: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. With the experience of our teaching staff as they have studied in finest UK universities, the participants will be well-prepared to take these tests.

    This course aims to: This course aims for general improvement of English language skills for personal and professional purposes of participants in an academic environment.

    Is a global education initiative from Cisco Systems, offers networking programs, like the (Cisco Certified Network Associate) CCNA and (Cisco Certified Network Professional) CCNP courses, which prepare students for the certification exams of the same name, and other computer-related courses. The Program has reached over 11,000 Academies globally with over one and a half million students in more than 150 countries. It uses a blended learning model, integrating face-to-face teaching with a web-based curriculum, hands-on lab exercises and personalized interactive online instruction with embedded assessment.

    This course aims to: The aim of the academies is to prepare students for networking and IT-related jobs in the public and private sectors as well as for higher education in engineering, computer science and related fields. Cisco has a major focus on fostering education around the world and reducing the ‘digital divide’. Cisco is passing on its networking skills and sharing its intellectual capital with people all around the world.
